Country Archer Jerky Review and Give-A-Way

Tuesday, May 09, 2017

Who doesn't love jerky? I mean, I'm not even afraid to grab the occasional meat stick at the gas station from time to time.  But there really is nothing like jerky made from quality meat, seasoned perfectly and dried or aged to just the right texture.  Jerky from your local supermarket is OK, usually too dry and hard and your jaw gets a workout.  It'll do in a pinch, but that's not what we're about here at Team Paddle Junkie.

Take a gander at Country Archer Jerky Co...  These guys have taken the jerky game up a notch or two, and we didn't even realize that was an option.  They start off with the best base proteins they can find, whether it's beef, pork or turkey.  Their no-nonsense approach eliminates all the junk we see in processed foods in general, and commonly in preserved protein snacks.

With flavors like Mango Habanero, Crushed Red Pepper, and Sriracha Beef Jerky;

and Turkey Jerkey available in Hickory Smoke and Honey Dijoun, you are bound to find at least one that you love.

All of the jerky is incredibly tasty, tender and packed with nutrition.  Every time we "tested" another flavor around Paddle Junkie HQ, it evaporated immediately.  It was like a pack of ravenous dogs fighting over a kill.

In addition to Jerky, the brilliant minds at Country Archer have also created a few protein packed Frontier Bars.  More like the "meat stick" we all are familiar with, these have all nutrition we need without any of the garbage you get in more industrially processed options.  No MSG, no Gluten, no Soy, just quality meats and seasoning.
Let's take a look at the nutrition facts to get a real sense of the difference between Country Archer and the other guys.   Now we probably all know the infamous Slim Jim meat sticks, right?  They sit at the check out counter of every convenience store everywhere.  I'll admit, I succumb to the impulse to snack on a Tabasco flavored one from time to time, further proof my dietary habits leave a lot to be desired.  But let's compare the Original Giant Slim Jim to the Country Archer Beef Jerky and their Cayenne Beef and Pork Frontier Bar.

The numbers don't lie...  For every ounce of Slim Jim you consume you are getting about a third more calories, at least double the saturated fat, and double the sodium...  Now, I know we are looking for some of these things to replace what we are burning thru on the trail, but the quality difference between these two brands is undeniable.
