Millet Couloir 25L Backpack - Gear Review

Looking for a daypack as comfortable on the way to class as it is half way up the glacier?  Well, Millet delivers a "no frills" pack, that's still got all the features you want and need.

The Couloir 25L pack is one of the most comfortable packs I have ever used. Built for back-country ski touring, it's got ski straps, ice axe loops and is hydration ready. With a cushioned back and shoulder straps it stays comfortable with just about any amount of weight you can pack into it. It has multiple straps to secure the load on your back and makes for carrying it for long distances and negotiating steep climbs infinitely easier.

While not being weighed down by a bunch of unnecessary gadgets, this pack has organization to spare. Two large main compartments to keep your gear tidy as well as small pockets on the hip belt for easy access to on-the-fly essentials.  It even has internal pockets for your avalanche gear; a shovel and probe.  When I say this pack is light, it's not just because it's only 25L.  Weighing in at just .7 Kilograms (or just over a pound and a half), it's 25-50% lighter than the packs we looked at in that size.  When you are already carrying a ton of gear, shedding ounces from the pack itself just makes sense.
